Our time in Irapuato is ending. On Thursday, our last day of ministry, we had 60 kids come to VBS…what a praise. An invitation was given and 6 children raised their hands to accept Christ. Please pray as the children´s director here follows up with them and that they will understand and grow in Christ.. Thursday night was the ladies Bible study led by Jane Wesner. She challenged us to surrender all to God. We shared our struggles and then appreciation for one another. There was not a dry eye in the place! All the host families and the team from Castleview gathered at the church for one last meal where we enjoyed fellowhip with one another.(I don´t know if we said it yet but the food in Mexico is incredible! We especially enjoy the 10 pm run for tacos every night. Most of us will look 5 pounds heavier when you see us!)

This morning (Friday) most of the team said good bye and were off to the airport. The Dave Wesner family will be staying five additional days to spend time with people in the church as well as reflect and debrief with the leadership here. Please pray for all of us as we recover and re-adjust to real life. Thank you for praying for us this week.

¡Buenas Días! Good morning in Spanish. Today our team spent much f the day together. This was to give our host families a break.

The day started at the church with a brief meeting and a time for prayer and praises. During VBS more children came! Praise the Lord! Some kids brought friends, others heard about VBS from the baseball clinic yesterday and decided to come to the church today!

After VBS the team dispersed to go to lunch. We took taxis as this was our host families´ time off from driving us around. Unfortunately, one taxi driver got lost which had Dan Myers, Andrew Barge, Lisa and Kayla Johnson inside. Amidst the chaos, Elizabeth Barge and I prayed they would arrive safely. Sure enough, 15 minutes later the taxi arrived with our remaining team members. We ate carnitas and had a nice time of fellowship together.

From there we did a bit of shopping at a local indoor market. At 5pm the team went to the plaza to distribute Wordless bracelets and tracts. The team has been very blessed to have members of the church come to translate for us. As the team presented a ballet dance, gospel drama and rope trick, the church was able to get 8 contacts to follow up with. These are people that want to know more about what the Bible teaches.

We wrapped up the evening by returning to the church for a meal of pork tacos and home-made tortillas. Again, it was a true blessing to fellowship with our team and the Mexican church together. I hope God was glorified in many ways today.

¡Buenas nochas! (Good night!)

Tuesday July 15

In our team meeting Beth Barge shared how they had met a young girl last year while distributing tracks and wordless book bracelets in the town square.  She and her daughter were able to share the goaspel with her (through a translator) and she prayed to accept Jesus.  Not by accident, they "happened" to encounter her again Monday night (a year later) as we were evangelizing in the town square.  Unfortunately, because she has not gone to church or been discipled in any way she has no way of getting to church.  Beth and her daughter plan to meet her again Wednesday night to give her a Spanish Bible and connect her with some local Christians.  God seems to have His hand on this young girl's life.  Pray for her.  Her name is Fernanda.

VBS went well.  The number of children in attendance increased and so did the enthusiasm and participation.  Later in the day, God showed Himself faithful during the baseball clinic, ballet and crafts in the park.  When we arrived at the park with all of our equipment and prizes, we discovered that we were not going to be allowed to use the field we had reserved due to rain the night before.  Thankfully, we were able to find another grassy area and proceeded as planned.  Around 50 kids showed up to participate.  It started to rain heavily towards the end but everyone was having so much fun they kept playing.  The rain stopped at just the right time so that David Wesner could share the gospel message using the wordless book bracelet and an analogy of a free gift.  We saved the prizes and snacks until after the presentation which was an effective way to keep their attention.

From the park the team dispersed to various church members' homes for the evening meal, which started around 9;00 pm and most of us did not return home until around midnight.  It was a wonderful envening of fabulous food and sweet fellowship with fellow Believers.  What a blessing to hear their testimonies and what God is doing in their lives.
